4worldlovers: “Wanted to drop a quick review of RUCKUS Charters. We chose RUCKUS and were able to fish with them on Tuesday, November 8, 2016. We arrived and Capt. Ray and Capt. Andrew met us at the dock at 5:15. They were very professional and helped us get all our gear on board. We were a party of 6. Some of us had prior deep sea charter experience and others none. We got under way quickly and they had prior deep sea charter experience, while some others had none. 2 hours into the trip, we had a good size marlin on one of the lines. The individual on reel had never caught any fish in salt water before. Andrew worked with him on the fishing tactics, and he was able to land a very nice blue marlin in the boat. Ray and Andrew worked as a well-oiled team and made the experience one of the best bucket list moments for a first timer!


I have worked on a marlin boat and have taken a number of charters in the past. I will say that Capt. Ray and Capt. Andrew never stopped working. Andrew worked constantly to find the right color plug to get the bite. Capt. Ray drove the boat close to 80 miles looking for fish. These two worked hard to get the fish. This was a crew that treated the fishing guests like guests and never talked down to anyone and interacted with all of us. We had one of the best times of our trip to Hawaii with the crew of the RUCKUS.

One other note… I was taken aback at how young Capt. Ray was. In his early 30's I had never seen a captain of a charter so young. Don’t be fooled! Capt. Ray is one of the hardest working, knowledgeable, and safety-conscious captains I have seen. He is salty for sure and knows the Hawaiian waters.
